Marston Architects relocated the layout of this solid masonry house to a side entry with added basement excavation and rear addition integrating the garden and new pool works.
This inner city house now includes an off the street double garage where previously street parking was the only option.
The builder and architect worked together to create & harness the footprint of the old verandah for these works.

Connecting the 3 levels is a custom steel and timber staircase showered in light from the roof widows. In true monolithic style this seamless element creates a feature statement fabricated on site.

The build includes extensive custom joinery, underfloor heating in the polished concrete floors and bathrooms, custom skylights including a main skylight across the living area spanning 5 meters long, floor to ceiling semi frameless slide-away windows and doors, large areas of featured Zink cladding and roofing, polished concrete to the lower floor and wide oak flooring throughout the main living and master suite areas.
The kitchen benchtop and splash-back feature Lavanza polished quartzite meticulously book matched together.

The challenge on this build included very limited access to excavate the 130 m3 of rock and soil below the lower floor undercroft. This work was to house the large detention and recycled water storage facility and the need to do all of that while supporting the staged, partial demolition of the existing 3 story structure above and the absolute need to have zero impact on the adjacent attached buildings.
